Hisham AlFouzan

Lead Engineer, SABIC’s Home of Innovation™

Hisham Al-Fouzan is a graduate from the University of Maryland Park with a Bachelor degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as a minor in Project Management under SABIC scholarship program. Upon graduation, he worked with SABIC Innovate Plastics in Selkirk, NY, U.S.A in Reliability Engineering. Later, he was assigned as an electrical engineer in the Operation and Maintenance department for the SABIC Plastic Application Development Center (SPADC) where he led the electrical systems for the LEED Gold certified facility. He then moved to join the Home of Innovation™ project team and worked on design, construction, and commissioning of the first LEED platinum home in the Middle East leveraging more than 100 application of SABIC materials with 45 global leading companies .Upon project completion, Hisham continued within the Home of Innovation™ Team as a Lead Engineer.

Ali Al-Jassim

CEO, Etihad Energy Services

Ali Al Jassim, CEO of Etihad Energy Services and holder of both bachelors of science in Civil Engineering and Masters of business administration with honours, has 18 years of experience in leading roles delivering programs and projects. Ali held top positions in both public and private sector entities such as Head of follow-up and development office at the Dubai Municipality, Acting CEO & Director of Drivers Licensing at RTA and General Manager of Qeyadah Driving Solutions.

Francisco Silverio Marques

Director, Business Development & Marketing, Enova

With a double degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture, Francisco started his career as a Project Manager for several European architecture practices, where he designed high energy efficiency and environmental quality commercial, educational, technical and health related buildings, with a strong integration of technologies at an early stage of design. Francisco then joined Veolia in 2005 as a Project Manager on PPPs and PFIs, and later as a Strategic Accounts Manager on commercial accounts. Building Energy Services Director from 2010 to 2014, he was in charge of coordinating the design of Veolia’s offers on Building Energy Services and supporting the various BUs worldwide in implementing them. In this capacity, he played a key role in working with the Veolia teams around the world to design and implement the company’s Energy Performance offering for public and private buildings both at a strategic level and on specific sales proposals. He joined Enova in March 2014 as Business Development and Marketing Director with a commitment to develop the Energy Performance offering and support the company’s growth in the region

Maen Nimrawi

LEED AP CEM®- Senior Commissioning Engineer, KEO International Consultants

Maen Al-Nemrawi is now Senior Commissioning Engineer within the sustainability division of KEO international consultants working on the commissioning projects in accordance with the LEED, Estidama and Dubai green building requirements.

He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Also certified as LEED AP by USGBC.  Al-Nemrawi is fluent in Arabic and English.

Before that Maen was the Bureau Manager of Energy Management at Schneider Electric, Saudi Arabia. In this role, he drived the achievement of key business goals and sustainability initiatives, both locally and worldwide. He has vast experience in the evaluation of energy conservation projects, including HVAC upgrades and control, lighting efficiency, cogeneration, sustainable design, and solar energy & building operation.

He also creates strategic energy audit plans for major industrial facilities and buildings. As part of his responsibilities, Al-Nemrawi is mandated to monitor financial and technical costing compliance without compromising on the quality of deliverables.

Prior to joining Schneider, Al-Nemrawi gained experience in the clean technologies domain as Senior Energy Efficiency Auditor and LEED Project Manager at Energy Management Services International. He was instrumental in aligning benchmarks of electrical designs to international coding standards. He also researched, implemented and commissioned energy conservation projects, measures and strategies. During this time, he was additionally mandated to help the company secure significant clients such as Dubai Waterfront Regulations/NAKHEEL, EHS, Jebel Ali and Qatar ECQ Regulations.

Al-Nemrawi graduated with a Bachelor’s in Mechatronics Engineering from the Hashemite University in Zarqa, Jordan. Maen is licensed in multiple states across the U.S. and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) as well as a Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP).

He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Al-Nemrawi is fluent in Arabic and English.

Raed Bkayrat

VP Business Development – Middle East, First Solar

Dr. Raed Bkayrat is responsible for establishing and overseeing First Solar’s commercial footprint in the region, market setup, origination and strategy development for partnerships and project execution. 

With about 20 years of experience, Raed joins First Solar from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where he was responsible for creating the institution’s successful Industry Collaboration Program. During his four year stint at KAUST, he also created a demonstration and testing program for solar and other clean energy technologies, advised several Saudi governmental and industrial entities and mentored start up companies.

Prior to that he was part of successful Startups in O&G industry in California, and previously spent eight years in various roles at Siemens AG in Germany and the US. Raed holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Jordan.  Raed is an expert on the technical and commercial values of integrated hybrid plants for power generation and water desalination. Raed has several issued patents and is an invited speaker on the topic of clean energy and sustainability.

Hassan Younes

Technical Director, Griffin Consultants

Named as the recipient of the Young Energy Professional of the Year 2015 for the Middle East Region by the Association of Energy Engineers. Hassan is Technical Director and Partner at Griffin Consultants, an energy focused consultancy specialized in sustainable designs and energy auditing.

A highly certified professional with extensive experience in the fields of Design, Sustainability, Project Execution and Management, Energy Efficiency, and Value Engineering; he is the first ASHRAE Certified professional outside of the USA to hold all six professional certifications by ASHRAE. The ASHRAE certificates he holds cover high-performance buildings design, buildings energy assessment, energy modelling, and buildings commissioning and operations. He is also a Certified Energy Manager, a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional, a LEED Accredited Professional, and an Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional.

With extensive experience in engineering systems design, analysis, and consulting and a passionate objective of raising the industry and sustainability standards in the region, Younes entered a partnership to establish Griffin Consultants where, as Technical Director, he responsible for all technical and developmental aspects of the firm. Hassan led and completed multiple energy audits with private and governmental entities and identified savings of more than $8 million in 3 year programs. Throughout his career, he was involved in the design of multiple high-end developments including retail, residential, commercial, and hospitality projects some of which are iconic in the Emirate of Dubai like The Beach (JBR) and City Walk.

Hassan is on the Board of Governors of the local chapter of ASHRAE acting as the Vice Chair for Grassroots Government Activities Committee and Vice Chair for Chapter Technology Transfer Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors of CIBSE regional chapter as the Consultants and Industry Liaison Officer. In those capacities, Hassan works to promote the advancement and improvement of the regional construction industry by collaborating with industry professionals, academia, and governmental entities. He currently is the Chair of the Industry Advisory Panel of the Herriot Watt Architectural and Engineering Program.   

He was awarded the Middle East Young Engineer of the Year 2010 and is part of the Griffin Consultant’s team awarded the Middle East Boutique Consultancy of the Year 2014.

Dr. Muhammad Asif

“Dr Muhammad Asif is an Associate Professor in the Architectural Engineering Department at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He is Charted Engineer, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), Certified Energy Manager (AEE, USA) and Member of the Energy Institute (UK). He sits on several international forums including the accreditation panel of the Energy Institute. He completed PhD in Applied Energy Engineering from Edinburgh (UK) in 2002 and has held full-time faculty positions for over 10 years in British Universities. His areas of research interest include renewable energy, sustainable buildings, energy conservation and management and life cycle assessment. He has authored over 70 research publications including a research monograph. His work has been referred to in various European policy documents and directives. Dr Asif has supervised 8 PhD and 2 MPhil projects to successful completion. He is actively involved in academic and industrial collaborations. He has provided consultancy services to a number of prominent international organisations including European Commission, Nor-Dan (Norway) and BAE Systems (UK). He has also contributed to the Annual Strategic Studies for the Industry Collaboration Program of KAUST. Currently he is leading a large international consortium as the Principal Investigator on a large building energy modeling research project for the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE).”

Stephane Le Gentil

Stephane le Gentil is Founder and CEO of Wattaqa since November 2016. Wattaqa provides consultancy, advisory and project management services in end-use energy efficiency, energy Demand Side Management (DSM) and ESCO (Energy Services) activities with a focus on the Middle East region. In 2013 Stephane came to Dubai to found and lead Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO) as CEO. Etihad ESCO was setup under the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) as the official government organization to reduce significantly the consumption of electricity and water in 30,000 existing buildings in Dubai. Prior to Etihad ESCO, Stephane spent many years at a leading global Energy Services company to build their European activities. Stephane serves as a member of the board at the Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO) who owns the IPMVP and he is past Chairman of the European Association of Energy Service Companies, eu-ESCO.
